What is GEM software?

G.E.M. is an acronym for Generic Engine Monitor. The term Generic is used because the aim of GEM is to be non-specific regarding engine type. GEM will work with engines that support the standard J1939 protocol and/or J1587 protocol. This is a CAN bus based protocol that is widely used on modern diesel engines. GEM configures itself to display as much information as possible including diagnostic information. The GEM software can be used on any of the current CANtrak displays including the latest CANtrak 2600 / 2610. GEM can easily be customised to suit particular needs if the standard GEM is not a complete solution. Please see the GEM data sheet for more details.
